Sleep and Routines
Dear Subscribers:
If you have limited time to read through the entire blog, here are a few play-based activities focusing on sleep and routines to enjoy together with your children.
1. Read and Sing together 📚
With school now in session, read a humorous book and sing a song as you reestablish earlier and regular bedtimes.
- Click on the link and read the fun-filled book The Froggies Do NOT Want to Sleep read by Adam Gustavson. Why go to bed when you can play the accordion, dance underwater ballet, and hold burping contests with strange alien lifeforms?
Make bedtime routines fun, click on the link and sing the song This is the way we go to bed
2. Create together: Observing, Drawing and Constructing 🧩
Discuss the behaviour of ants as you draw together. Take this opportunity to chat with your child about what they can do to be a contributing team member at home or in the classroom – like the ants do!.
- Watch a BBC video about ants together and then encourage your child to create a simple drawing of an Ant (1:38 mins.) or a more complex drawing (10:21 mins.) OR have your child go outside with a magnifying glass and find an ant to carefully observe and draw.
3. Explore together 🌍
Sometimes children’s anxiety or fear is best handled through fun activities that reinforce their physical development. Parents – want to assist your child develop better balance?
- Enjoy the last days of summer by doing some outdoor activities involving physical play such masking tape balance course game or this fun indoor or out activity as a Wicked Witch who controls your kids movement and balance.
4. Engage and Interact: 👭
- Focus on another outdoor physical activity, the Giant Tape painting, which improves your child’s balance and makes them feel even more confident about playing games with their friends.
